The project lasts for two years and is carried out in cooperation with partners from Spain (company Embarro Iberica dealing with tadelakt) and from Portugal (association Compalha dealing with natural building). As the result of the project a tadelakt step-by-step guide will be made and it will remain available in Internet fro everybody.
At the beginning of November we had our first project meeting in Portugal. We were in an idyllic place near Lisbon. The main content of the meeting was getting to know the partners and carrying out a tadelakt workshop. Each partner made a presentation about themselves and their activities.
During the two and a half days long workshop we made bigger and smaller samples of tadelakt with different tadelakt mixtures: Moroccon, Kreidezeit, Casa Natura and our own Estonian tadelakt. It was interesting to compare the qualities, application process and final results of different mixtures. We also used different waxes for final finishing. During the workshop we exchanged many practical experiences and each partenr learnt something new.
In addition we got to know local traditional and historic buildings - we visited an old fishing village Ericeira, UNESCO World Heritage Site Sintra and the capital of Portugal - Lisbon. We could touch the Atlantic Ocean, be in the most western point of Continental Europe - Cabo da Roca - and to enjoy the good wine and food of Portugal.
Our next meeting takes place in spring in Spain where we'll work with tadelakt even more profoundly. Meanwhile we develop the tadelakt step-by-step guide so it would be available for everbody by the end of the project.
